Polish Double Bass Music. Album Première

  • 01-06-2023, Thursday, at 7:00 pm -

The CD POLISH DOUBLE BASS MUSIC, released by DUX, one of Europe’s best music labels of to-day, will have its premiere on Thursday 1st June 2023 at 7 p.m. in the Lentz Villa.
Enthusiasts of double bass music will have the rare opportunity to hear this largest of modern string instruments solo and with piano. Excellent double bass player Karol Nasiłowski – winner of many international music competitions, and pianist Dominik Wizjan from Szczecin’s Academy of Art, will present Polish music contained on this CD, which has been written over the last hundred years. The composers Walerian Gniot, Stefan Bolesław Poradowski, and Janusz Stalmierski wrote these works specially for the double bass. Notably, the compositions that make up the concert programme have never been recorded or released before. While listening to this rich repertoire, the audience will have a chance not only to admire the instrument’s solos, but also to discover the roles and functions it has played in different decades.

The programme consists of the following works:

Stefan Bolesław Poradowski (1902-1977)

Caprice No. 1 for solo double bass

Walerian Józef Gniot (1902-1967)

Greater Poland Pride for double bass and piano

Romance for double bass and piano

Sonata for double bass and piano

Janusz Stalmierski (b. 1959)
