The programme of the concert held at the Lentz Villa on Thursday, 5th October 2023, consists of works by Henryk Wieniawski, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Claude Debussy, Antonio Bazzini, and Maurice Ravel.
The first three of these composers began their careers in music as child prodigies. Paris was an important point on their artistic paths. It was in that city that King Louis XV applauded the then 8-year-old Mozart. Wieniawski took up education at Paris Conservatory at the same early age of 8, and Debussy enrolled in that school at age 11. Bazzini (a pupil of Giacomo Puccini) was an outstanding violinist, composer, and head of Milan Conservatory. Ravel, typically remembered for his famous Bolero, was (like Debussy) a representative of impressionism in music.
The works of these masters will be performed by violinist Emanuel Salvador and pianist Dominik Franczuk.
Emanuel Salvador
Strand Magazine listed him among the best Portuguese violinists of the young generation. He has appeared as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestra leader in, among others, China, Spain, the Netherlands, Japan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Germany, Portugal, Turkey, Great Britain, and Italy.
He is the winner of awards, including the first prizes, in competitions such as the Isolde Menges (RCM), Beckenham Festival, Barbirolli Memorial, Wolfson Foundation, Jovens Musicos, and Julio Cardona.
Salvador graduated from London’s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Royal College of Music. He has performed with the Orquesta Nacional de España, the Brazilian National Symphony, Seoul Classical Players, Adana Philharmonic, Monterrey Symphony Orchestra, Krasnoyarsk Symphony, Orquestra de Norte, and Classica da Madeira. He is the founder and leader of the Portuguese Guimarães String Quartet, with which he regularly gives concerts in Europe and Asia. Between 2005 and 2015 he was the leader of the Portuguese Orquestra do Norte.
Dominik Franczuk
Graduate of Szczecin’s music schools: Marek Jasiński Primary (piano class of Anna Gajewska) and Feliks Nowowiejski Secondary (piano class of Paweł Gorczyński), as well as the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (piano with Prof. Maria Murawska and Paweł Wakarecy, D.M.A.). He also participated in masterclasses taught by Profs Vincenzo Balzani, Jerzy Godziszewski, Amalia Malling, and Tamás Ungár.
