This year’s last concert in the cycle ‘Jazz at the Villa’, to be held on 2nd December (starting as usual at 8 p.m.) features jazz virtuosi: pianist Ignacy Wiśniewski and violinist Tomasz Chyła.
Their Tricity-based duo was launched in 2022 as part of Wiśniewski’s DUOS project. The two musicians had met as students at the Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where they currently teach.
Tomasz Chyła is a highly regarded violinist, conductor and composer closely involved in the Tricity’s artistic scene. He possesses the unique ability of presenting stories and conveying moods through his improvisations, which abound in creative solutions. Apart from leading his own quintet, with which he has recorded 4 albums, Chyła has collaborated with, among others, Logan Richardson, Bobby Watson, and Leszek Możdżer.
Ignacy Wiśniewski is a talented stage music composer and jazz keyboard instruments player, as well as an expert accompanist of singers and actors, famed for attaining perfect balance between technical abilities and powerful emotional expression. As founder and leader of Ignacy Wiśniewski Trio, he released Jazz Shirim (2016) and Kantata jazzowa (Jazz Cantata, 2018). The DUOS project, which Wiśniewski initiated in 2021, previously involved collaborations with Mikołaj Trzaska, Olo Walicki, Michał Bryndal, and Marcin Januszkiewicz.
Chyła and Wiśniewski’s dynamic duo explores various jazz styles, from Scandinavian ballads to wild Oriental sound, in musical performances that abound in energy, virtuosity, and originality.
The partner of ‘Jazz at the Villa’ is small great music.
