The second recital in our cycle CHOPIN AT THE LENTZ VILLA. COMPLETE WORKS will be given on Saturday, 9th March 2024 by Jakub Kuszlik.

The pianist is a graduate of Prof. Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń’s class at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. His accolades include the 4th prize and Polish Radio Special Award for the best performance of mazurkas at the 18th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2021), as well as the 2nd prize of the International Paderewski Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz (2016), the 2nd prize in the Hilton Head International Piano Competition (USA, 2019) and the 3rd prize in the Top of the World International Piano Competition in Tromsø (Norway, 2019). In 2017 he reached the semi-finals of the International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn. Other prizes in nationwide and international piano events include competitions in Konin (3rd prize, 2010), Zgorzelec (2nd prize, 2011), EPTA Cracow (2nd prize, 2012), Moritz Moszkowski Competition (1st prize, Kielce 2013), Artur Rubinstein in memoriam (2nd prize, Bydgoszcz 2014), Ludwik Stefański and Halina Czerny-Stefańska Competition in Płock (Grand Prix and 1st prize – 2014), IPiUM Silesia, and the Youth Stage of the 49th Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk (2015).

Kuszlik’s 2018 appearance at what is undoubtedly one of the world’s most famous music venues, New York’s Lincoln Center, proved an enormous success. His first solo album, Brahms, Chopin, recorded during a recital at the Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio of Polish Radio in 2022, garnered excellent reviews.

The artist has received scholarships from the Jolanta and Leszek Czarnecki Foundation (JLC) and the President of the City of Bydgoszcz. Kuszlik has given performances throughout Poland as well as in Armenia, Brazil, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Kosovo, Lithuania, Norway, USA, and Vietnam, among others.
