On 15th February 2024 (Thursday), we invite fans of Martyna Jakubowicz – a charismatic singer-songwriter whose repertoire combines elements of folk, blues, and classic rock – to her unique concert at the Lentz Villa.
The event also marks the 40th anniversary of the release of the artist’s debut album Maquillage.
The much-awaited artist will primarily perform her own songs (co-authored with Andrzej Jakubowicz) released on fifteen albums, including her most recent one titled Akustyczność (Acoustically). The concert programme also includes her superhit ‘No free love in houses of concrete’, associated in listeners’ memories with the bleakness of the communist era in Poland.
In Szczecin, Martyna Jakubowicz will perform with:
• JANEK PENTZ – winner of HASPA Guitar Cup (Hamburg 2022), author of three original albums, guitarist and composer working in the fingerstyle scene, known to our audience from his previous appearances at the Lentz Villa, but also appearing in prestigious venues of Austria, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, UK, and the Vatican.
• DARIUSZ BEFELTOWSKI – a multi-instrumentalist famed for his spellbinding performances on the classical and electric guitars, mandolin, ukulele, as well as ethnic stringed instruments such as the cümbüş (oud/saz/cura varieties) and laúd. He is also known for his collaborations with Justyna Steczkowska, Janusz ‘Yanina’ Iwański, Budka Suflera, Mateusz and Marcin Pospieszalski, Karimski Club, ‘Vaults of St Norbert’s’ Cracow-based artistic group, as well as Janusz Radek.
The concert will be preceded by a meeting with Martyna Jakubowicz, during which she will reveal the inside story of her book The Difficult Art of Flying, recently published by ZNAK. The meeting’s host will be radio journalist Janusz Wilczyński.
