Grzegorz Niemczuk

  • Willa Lentza

Grzegorz Niemczuk’s recital to be held on Friday, 10th May 2024 at 7 pm is part of the cycle CHOPIN AT THE LENTZ VILLA. COMPLETE WORKS.

The artist has been applauded in many famous concert halls worldwide, including New York’s Carnegie Hall and Steinway Hall, Tokyo’s Kioi Hall, Beijing Concert Hall, São Paulo’s Teatro Sérgio Cardoso, the Victoria Concert Hall in Singapore, and Salle Willy Buard in Geneva’s Collonge-Bellerive commune. Enthusiastically received by the critics and audiences alike, Niemczuk has garnered excellent reviews, playing concerts in thirty-six countries on six continents.
During the COVID-19 pandemic years (2020-2022) Grzegorz Niemczuk recorded a unique series of video lectures-presentations dedicated to all of Chopin’s works: more than 330 episodes in Polish and English language versions, published on YouTube and the artist’s Facebook profile.

This Chopin expert and piano virtuoso has won accolades in numerous piano competitions, including in 2013 the International Carnegie Hall Concerto Debut Competition in New York (as the first Pole in history), and in 2016 – the special award as finalist of the Busan Maru International Music Festival in South Korea.

In 2024-2025, apart from his performance at the Lentz Villa, the artist will make his debut at such prestigious concert halls as Vienna’s Konzerthaus, the Prague Rudolfinum, and Tonhalle Zurich.

At the Lentz Villa, Niemczuk will play a programme comprising five Mazurkas, Op.6, two sets of variations: in E Major on the German Song ‘Steh’ auf, steh’ auf, du schweizer Bub’, op. posth., and on the March from Bellini’s ‘I Puritani’ (from Hexameron), Op. 29A, Sonata in B-Flat Minor, Op. 35 (composed at Nohant in 1839 and including the famous Funeral March), as well as Scherzo in B-Flat Minor, Op. 31 (1837, dedicated by the composer to Adéle de Fürstenstein).
