On Friday, January 14 at 17:00, the Lentz Villa will host a concert of unique Christmas carols and pastorales. Then, a female ensemble selected from a large choral group, as well as Marek Kwarta, who plays the keyboard, under the direction of Anna Tarnowska, will perform Roman Maciejewski's composition "Shepherd's Mass", inspired by seven Polish Christmas carols considered to be pearls of world music literature.

THE CHOIR OF GIOIA di CANTO

The choir operating under the aegis of the Grawitz Villa Association at the Tadeusz Szeligowski State Music School of the 1st Degree in Szczecin is made up of genuine enthusiasts and lovers of group singing. They include young people developing their vocal talent as well as singers with many years of experience representing various Szczecin vocal groups. The vocalists' repertoire comprises both a cappella pieces and vocal-instrumental pieces.

The conductor and artistic director of the choir is Ms Anna Tarnowska – professor at the Academy of Art in Szczecin and curator of the School Choir Development Program, Singing Academy Poland.

Among the many successes of the choir, it is worth mentioning the Golden Diploma and the Cup of the President of the Polish Association of Choirs and Orchestras in Szczecin awarded at the 56th International Jan Szyrocki Festival of Choral Song in Międzyzdroje. Moreover, they won the Golden Diploma and two special awards: for the best performance of a piece of early music and for the best performance of a piece inspired by folklore at the 20th International Feliks Nowowiejski Festival of Choral Music in Barczewo. The culmination of these successes was participation in the prestigious Legnica Cantat 51 National Choirs Tournament, where Gioia di Canto (female choir) was awarded 2nd place and the Gold Diploma and was additionally presented with the Award of the President of the City of Legnica.
