Szymanowski at the Lentz Villa. Dwóchgłos / Duovoice

  • 08-03-2024, Friday, at 7:00 pm -

On Friday 8th March 2024 at 7 p.m., the DWÓCHGŁOS (DUOVOICE) duo (Michał Pepol – cello and Bartek Wąsik – piano) will play a concert at the Lentz Villa.
The programme consists of pieces in different genres written by Karol Szymanowski (1882-1937), an artist listed along with Fryderyk Chopin as one of Poland’s greatest composers of all time.

One of the fresh and possibly surprising aspects of this concert is that Szymanowski’s works will be presented in new arrangements for piano and cello. The programme includes such repertoire staples as ‘Roxana’s Song’ from the opera King Roger, Kurpie Songs, Mazurkas, the famous Swan, as well as excerpts from the ballet Harnasie.

Participants will also have an opportunity to see Joanna Sarapata’s work ART DECO GOLD.

Please join us for this concert.

Mazurkas, Op. 50 Nos. 1, 2, and 3

Prelude in B Minor, Op. 1 No. 1

Étude in B-Flat Minor, Op. 4 No. 3

The Swan, Op. 7

‘In the Mountain Pasture’ from the ballet Harnasie

At Berlin Philharmonic (with Kwadrofonik), he played his original version of Igor Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and pieces from the CD Folklove (Folk Album of the Year). His project New Warsaw (twelve new arrangements of songs about Warsaw, with Stanisława Celińska and the Royal String Quartet) met with an enthusiastic critical acclaim and won the Guarantee of Culture as well as Wdecha awards.
