Marc Secara and His Band Perform Songs by Bert Kaempfert and Frank Sinatra

Please join us for a concert by Marc Secara, ‘the singer who can fly with his voice’ (Radio Berlin Brandenburg), who on one special evening at the Lentz Villa will present compositions by two musical giants: Bert Kaempfert and Frank Sinatra.
Bert Kaempfert composed such world hits as Strangers in the Night, Blue Spanish Eyes, and Danke schön. It was he who first discovered The Beatles. He composed for Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Al Martino, Ella Fitzgerald, and Nat King Cole. He wrote music history, selling over 150 million records, and his ‘easy listening sound’ shaped an entire generation.

Frank Sinatra, known as ‘Old Blue Eyes’, one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, sold a similar number of albums, won 11 Grammy and 3 Oscar Awards.

With his outstanding band, Marc Secara will perform for you the swinging and enchantingly beautiful melodies written by these two artists.

For Bert

It makes no difference

The world we knew

You turned my world around medley (Swinging Safari, Afrikaan Beat, Red Roses)

My Way of Life

I can’t help remembering you

and others….

The Songs of Frank Sinatra

I’ve got you under my skin

You make me feel so young

Medley of ballads (Bewitched, The shadow of your smile, Moon River)

Lady is a tramp

Stormy weather

Fly me to the moon

Old devil moon

I get a kick out of you

It´s all right with me

Come fly with me

I´ve got a crush on you

I wish you love

Night and day

Angel eyes

and others….

Marc Secara

Marc Secara, born in 1976, studied jazz and pop singing at the Hanns Eisler Music Academy in Berlin and received an IASJ scholarship to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA.

At the age of 20 he sang in the national youth jazz orchestra, which was a young talent forge for highly talented musicians. In 2001, he received worldwide media coverage as the first Western artist in 20 years to be allowed to tour Iran. He won first prize as best artist at the country’s most important music festival Fadjr. In 2004 he was selected as the only German artist to take part in a European concert tour on behalf of the German federal government, which was a form of musical welcome the then 10 new EU members. He made his major recording debut in 2006 with the production Strangers in the Night (Universal Records).

Secara sings title tracks in several cinema productions. With Berlin Jazz Orchestra, one of the best-known orchestras in Germany, headed by the American trombone legend Jiggs Whigham, Secara has given over a hundred concerts in the major German concert halls.

The artist is an eminent representative of the new German jazz and pop vocal scene as well as a regular guest soloist in jazz programmes of the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Deutsche Oper orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Band, and many others.

2011 saw the release of his album Now and Forever – a large-scale production with a German all-stars big band, symphony orchestra and choir. The live DVD Strangers in the Night, recorded during a concert at the Frankfurt Opera (Universal Records), was released in the same year. In 2013 Marc Secara was appointed professor of vocal art at the SHR Hochschule der populären Künste in Berlin.
