Our next concert in the series JAZZ AT THE VILLA, held on the last Saturday of the month, 30th September, at 8 p.m. in the Lentz Villa, features two excellent musicians: violist Michał Zaborski, known from his performances with Atom String Quartet, and guitarist Jakub Kotynia. To our audience in Szczecin, they will present their new original programme.
The Kotynia / Zaborski duo has a well-established reputation in the Polish and European music scene. The original combination of a jazz guitar and viola produces an extremely intriguing palette of sound.
The duo aims to present their own original music, rooted primarily in jazz, but also influenced by ethnic and broadly conceived contemporary improvised music. The musicians make conscious use of electronic and acoustically prepared sound, which creates virtually unlimited possibilities of exploring various sound colours. They also communicate and interact in search of novel contexts for their instruments, to which they assign new meanings and roles, somewhat surprising and different from those commonly accepted.
The duo made its debut in the ‘Jazz Mornings’ festival cycle in Lublin, winning great public and critical acclaim.
