16-04-2024, Tuesday, at 5:30 pm - Free entrance
The protagonist of our next meeting in the series HUMANISTS’ SZCZECIN AT THE WILLA LENTZA, to be held on Tuesday, 16th April 2024, is the poet, actress and theatre director Joanna Kulmowa, author of stage works, Responsorial Psalms, radio dramas, and novels. Much of her output is for children, who awarded her the Order of the Smile as their favourite writer. This best-known inhabitant of Strumiany in West Pomerania (a village she made famous) was also granted an honorary doctorate of the University of Szczecin (2010).
HUMANISTS’ SZCZECIN is a cycle organised already for three years by the Lentz Villa jointly with the University of Szczecin. This afternoon event will include the unveiling of a memorial plaque (under the ’Jacek’ magnolia tree) dedicated to Kulmowa’s friend to Jacek Nieżychowski (in the Villa’s garden at 5 p.m.), a meeting from the cycle ‘Biographies, autobiographies, and letters…’, as well as promotion of Urszula Chęcińska’s Polish-language monograph titled Transcende te ipsum. On the Art of Life in Letters by Professor Zygmunt Mysłakowski and Joanna Kulmowa and of Kulmowa’s last poetry volume (Found under the Bed), published in 2024 by Szczecin University Press (at 5.30 p.m.).
These events will be followed by a short concert titles Songs about Love (Kasia Buja Kazuba – vocals, Maciej Kazuba – guitar, vocals).
