A Meeting with Agnieszka Gładzik at the Willa Lentza

During a meeting held on Thursday, 9th May 2024 at our city’s artistic salon, Szczecin-born author Agnieszka Gładzik presented her most recent book titled Niepokorni (The Defiant Ones), published by Szara Godzina. Set in 1946 in Szczecin, it describes the city in the early postwar period as seen through the eyes of young people who came to the so-called Regained Territories (in western Poland) from different parts of the world.
Two earlier novels by the same author were recalled: Pomorzanie (The Pomeranians) and Daleko od morza (Far from the Sea), likewise containing scenes which take place in the streets of Szczecin and in the city’s environs. Another book by Gładzik, Buntowniczki (The Rebels), brings memories of postwar Gdańsk, where the female protagonists spent their youth.

The event is hosted by Krzysztof Lichtblau.
