On Saturday 8th June 2024 at 7 p.m., we invite you to dance and enjoy yourselves in the LENTZ VILLA’S GARDEN in the atmosphere of pre-WWII Warsaw’s streets and yards, to the sound of music that reigned supreme in the Polish capital nearly a hundred years ago. These tunes, as well as songs popular at that time, have been saved from oblivion by members of WARSAW DANCE COMBO, consisting of:
Jan Emil Młynarski – vocals / banjola
Piotr Zabrodzki – vocals / banjo
Anna Bojara – musical saw
Karol Szczubełek – guitar
Tomasz Duda – baritone sax / clarinet
Maurycy Idzikowski – trumpet
Wojtek Traczyk – double bass
We hope their repertoire will move you and entertain you just as much as it pleased the audiences of interwar Warsaw.
The septet is a project spontaneously created on the initiative of Jan Emil Młynarski, son of the famous poet, satirist and songwriter Wojciech Młynarski, whose great uncle Emil Młynarski established Warsaw Philharmonic.
Janek founded this combo with his friends, out of love for the tradition he was brought up with, for the sake of passion and the sense of duty that was instilled in him. They initially developed their skills playing in yards in Warsaw’s housing districts of Mokotów, Praga, Śródmieście as well as in restaurants. Today Janek sings and plays for his own audience, fondly returning to the memories and songs of old Warsaw and its then popular instrumental lineups.
