The next concert in our series ‘Jazz at the Villa’, to be presented on 6th June 2024 at 9 p.m., features saxophonist Tomasz Licak, Danish bassist Martin Buhl Staunstrup, and drummer Radek Wośko.
Tomasz Licak – jazz composer, arranger, and sax player, born 1986 in Szczecin, associated with the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music in Odense (Denmark) since 2005. He regularly collaborates with numerous Danish, Polish, and German musicians.

Licak is a Grand Prix winner of the Jazz on the Odra festival and the Jazz Blizzard Festival in Bielsko-Biała. He has composed and arranged pieces for various jazz line-ups from trio to big band. He has composed music for films and the theatre, as well as recording improvised, jazz, and rock music albums. The artist is a beneficiary of scholarship programmes offered by the Municipality of Szczecin, the Marshal of Zachodniopomorskie (West Pomerania) Province, and ERMA fonden (Denmark). He is a member of Autor (formerly DJBFA), the largest association for composers and songwriters in Denmark, as well as KODA authors’ association. As a lecturer at the Academy of Art in Szczecin, Licak co-founded the Jazz and Popular Music Major at the Academy’s Faculty of Instrumental Studies.

In 2021 Licak was named an Honorary Ambassador of the City of Szczecin.

Martin Buhl Staunstrup – Danish double-bass player and composer currently residing in Berlin, recognised as a leading Danish bassist who has collaborated with an entire galaxy of Danish jazz stars.

Radek Wośko, born in Szczecin, graduated from that city’s Medical Academy (now the Pomeranian Medical University). He then moved to Denmark and entered the Carl Nielsen Academy of Music (now the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium) in Odense, where he obtained an MMus degree in jazz, percussion and music composition, followed by an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in solo performance.

Wośko has performed with leading artists and bands in concert and in recording studios in Austria, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ghana, Great Britain, Kenya, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Tanzania, and the United States.
