There can be no better homage to great heroes than the music of Fryderyk Chopin. This is why we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of Warsaw Uprising with an extraordinary, solemn Chopin recital, presented at Szczecin’s artistic salon as part of the cycle CHOPIN AT THE WILLA LENTZA. COMPLETE WORKS by pianist Szymon Nehring.
Pupil and graduate of Prof. Olga Łazarska at Cracow’s State Primary and Secondary General Education Music School as well as Prof. Stefan Wojtas at the Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, Nehring also studied with Prof. Boris Berman at the famous Yale School of Music. The artist’s numerous accolades include the 1st prize in the International Competition ‘Arthur Rubinstein in memoriam’ (Bydgoszcz 2014), the 2nd prize of the Premio Accademia di Roma, the 1st prize and an award for the performance of Chopin’s nocturne in the International Piano Competition ‘Halina Czerny-Stefańska in memoriam’ in Poznań. In 2015 he was the only Polish finalist of the 17th International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw, where he also celebrated receiving an honourable mention and the audience award. At the 15th Arthur Rubinstein International Piano Master Competition in Tel Aviv (2017) he received the Rubinstein Prize (1st place) as well as the Or Jehuda and Jezrael Valley audience favourite awards, the Junior Jury Prize, and the Advanced Studies Prize for a pianist under the age of 22.

Nehring has appeared with the orchestras of Warsaw Philharmonic, NOSPR Katowice, the National Forum of Music in Wrocław, Santander, the Polish Sinfonia Iuventus, Bamberger Symphoniker, Hartford and Calgary Symphony, as well as the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. He has had the honour to perform under such masters of the baton as John Axelrod, Karina Canellakis, Lawrence Foster, Giancarlo Guerrero, Pablo Heras-Casado, Jacek Kaspszyk, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Grzegorz Nowak, Krzysztof Penderecki, Antoni Wit, and David Zinman. His performances have drawn applause in venues such as New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Elbphilharmonie, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Konzerthaus Berlin, Copenhagen’s DR Koncerthuset, Vienna’s Musikverein, and Munich’s Prinzregententheater.

This list of prestigious venues will now also include Szczecin’s Lentz Villa, where Szymon Nehring plays a solemn concert for the 80th anniversary of Warsaw Uprising, with a programme consisting of Fryderyk Chopin’s seven Mazurkas from Opp. 56 and 68, Rondo, Op. 1, Andante spianato and Grande Polonaise Brillante, Op. 22, two Nocturnes, Op. 55, and Berceuse, Op. 57.

We warmly invite you to join us for this event.
