Krzysztof Komeda. A Concert by Maciej Tubis

Outstanding jazz pianist Maciej Tubis will perform at the Willa Lentza on 31st August 2024 at 7 p.m.

Tubis graduated in classical piano from the G. and K. Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź. At the Willa Lentza, he will play pieces released on his album KOMEDA: REFLECTIONS.

‘He is a musician with a questing mind who doesn’t shun untypical original solutions and arrangements. He has developed his own unique style while writing original music for his TUBIS TRIO… With that band, he has released four publicly and critically acclaimed albums.’

During his concert in Szczecin, the instrumentalist will present music from his first album, dedicated to Krzysztof Komeda – an eminent composer of jazz standards and film music that brought him global fame.
Our Monday concert programme will feature, among others, the legendary ‘Lullaby’ from Rosemary’s Baby and other famous themes such as ‘Before the Day Breaks’, ‘Le Départ’, ‘My Ballad’, ‘After the Catastrophe’, as well as swinging motifs from Roman Polański’s black-and-white silent film study Two Men and a Wardrobe.

The CD KOMEDA: REFLECTIONS has garnered excellent reviews and favourable comments, such as: ‘a mature, original, at the same time endearingly intimate and sincere perspective on the output of the late lamented artist whose career ended far too early. The music he left behind, though, can still surprise us after all those years in new, engaging interpretations…’

Please join us for this meeting with the music of the prematurely departed jazz musician, whose music will surely surprise us – not only due to novel, captivating interpretations, but also thanks to Maciej Tubis’ daring improvisations.
