Tango is most often associated with Argentina. However, we often associate it with, for example, the play by Sławomir Mrożek and the Oscar-winning animated film by Zbigniew Rybczyński. The title "tango" was also popularized by the albums of Carlos Santana and Julia Iglesias and the ball produced for the 1978 Football World Cup.
The inhabitants of Szczecin will soon associate this term with the Lentz Villa because it will host the Tango Day on September 17th. Participants of the event will learn that behind the slogan "tango", there is a fantastic story of its creation, musical form, style and rhythm of the dance.
The event's program will include many surprises, including a special screening of the film Tango by Zbigniew Rybczyński, which was awarded the Academy Award for the best animated short film at the 55th Academy Awards (1983). The work, made at the Studio of Small Film Forms (Se-ma-for), is the first Polish film to receive an Oscar.
On this day, there will also be a discussion about tango, moderated by professor Tomasz Tomaszewski. Participation in it has been announced by, among others, Paulina Bojarska, PhD from the Institute of Iberian and Ibero-American Studies at the University of Warsaw, Dorota and Adrian Grygier – dancers applauded at many prestigious festivals in Europe and South America, founders of the Tango Academy in Szczecin, and Daniel Pacitti – bandoneonist, composer, member of GRUPO GARDEL and professor Szymon Wyrzykowski – conductor, artistic director of the Professor Jan Szyrocki Academic Choir at ZUT in Szczecin.
The concert of GRUPO GARDEL is an ensemble founded by professor Tomasz Tomaszewski – the first concertmaster of the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, founder and conductor of the Kammersolisten der Deutschen Oper Berlin Orchestra and lecturer, among others of the Berlin University of Arts (Akademie der Künste Berlin).
The Lentz Villa also hosts dance shows. During the break, the dancers will perform an Argentine tango.
The event is organized under the honorary patronage of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic.
