Andrzej Wajda – "Kanał"

On October 11, at 17:00, there will be a screening of Andrzej Wajda's 1956 film "Kanał" as part of the Szczecin Film Festival 21 (SEFF).
The film, awarded with SILVER PALM at the 10th IFF in Cannes, tells a story of a unit of Warsaw insurgents attempting to escape through the sewers from the German encirclement. In "Film Quarterly 1996/97, the director said about the film: "We knew that we were the voice of our dead, that it is our duty to bear witness to those terrible years, terrible destruction, and the terrible fate that befell the Polish nation and those who were its best."
