Sławomir Wilk

He began learning to play the piano in Szczecin, first with Helena Pachlowska and then with Mikołaj Szczęsny. He graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Gdańsk (piano class of professor Waldemar Wojtala) and the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin (class of professor John O'Conor). He took master piano courses with D. Joffe, Y. Kaplinsky, V. Krainiew, K. Kenner, W. Nosina, J. O'Conor, E. Pobłocka and B. Ringeissen.

He is a scholarship holder of the government of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, the Minister of Culture and National Heritage and the Society of Fryderyk Chopin in Warsaw. In addition, he has received many prestigious awards for his contribution to the promotion of Polish culture at home and abroad, including from the Society of the Friends of Art in Gdańsk, TU Allianz Polska (Nike in the field of Culture, Science, Media), the Artistic Award of the President of Szczecin (2003) and the West Pomeranian Griffin.

Sławomir Wilk is a semi-finalist of the International Competitions: Chopin in Warsaw (2005), Piano Competition in Hamamatsu (2006), International Piano Competition in Dublin (2009), as well as a laureate of Young Stage at the Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk. Furthermore, as a chamber musician, he won the International Johannes Brahms Chamber Music Competition in Gdańsk with Darius Piano Trio in 2006 and took 3rd place in the International Johannes Brahms in Pörtschach, Austria.

Being one of the leading Polish pianists of the middle generation, he has taken part in numerous recitals and concerts worldwide (in Africa, North America, Australia, Asia and Europe). In 2010, as part of the International Chopin Festival in New York, he performed at the Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. He has collaborated with prominent conductors, including N. Diadura, J.M. Florencio, J. Krenz, M. Nesterowicz, J. Przybylski, Z. Rychert, and A. Wit.

He has made many radio and TV recordings. In addition, he has recorded an album with Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy's Double Concerto for the DUX label with the violinist Bartłomiej Nizioł.
