The final event of the International Composers’ Competition 'Sax & Villas' and the 'Autumnal Saxludium' 2022

Saxophone music took pride of place during events held at the Lentz Villa this weekend, on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th October.
Friday saw the official announcement of the results of our International Composers’ Competition ‘Sax & Villas’ as well as the first Polish performance of the composition that received an honourable mention at the Competition. The jury (consisting of Prof. Krzysztof Meyer – chair, Prof. Dariusz Samól, Gianluca Marcianò, and Giuseppe Bruno) awarded this accolade to Gianluca Cremona for his Trio for soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone and piano. The Competition’s organisers were two villas: Marigola in Lerici, Italy, and the Lentz Villa in Szczecin.

Our already well-established Saxludium cycle returned this season with Saturday’s inaugural concert by instrumentalists from Poland and Italy, whose captivating interpretations attracted an extremely warm audience reception. The sound and technical possibilities of the instrument, built in the 19th century by Adolphe Sax, were demonstrated by, among others, Paweł Gusnar, Trio Exclusive, the duo of Valentina Renesto and Giuseppe Bruno, PS Duo (Julita Przybylska – Urszula Szyryńska), and Impression Saxophone Ensemble under the baton of Dariusz Samól, which consists of: Valentina Renesto, Julita Przybylska, Iwona Grysak, Blanka Król, Wiesław Orłowski, Feng Jianyu, Francesca Simonelli, Rafał Pikusa, Julia Ogrodnik, Agnieszka Marmol, Wiktoria Janik, and Patrycjusz Pura.
