On Tuesday 20th December, numerous fans of the city’s history flocked to the Lentz Villa to attend the vernissage of a new exhibition. Dedicated to the architectural jewels of Szczecin’s Łękno district, this presentation of archival and historical materials has been organised by the Lentz Villa in cooperation with the State Archive in Szczecin.

The exhibition aims to familiarise visitors with the history of Szczecin’s Westend and to present the architectural diversity of that district, with numerous outbuildings (such as conservatories and hothouses, bowers, greenhouses, stables, coach houses, garages, etc.) adding colour to the bourgeois residences they belong to. We also show how some buildings were adapted from residential use to public utility (offices and a hospital).

The exhibition is curated by Radosław Pawlik, PhD, and Nina Jastrzemska, MA, under the scientific supervision of Professor Paweł Gut. Graphic design has been created by Piotr N. Wardziukiewicz.

During the vernissage, the project’s concept and the principles of scientific and artistic cooperation were discussed by Jagoda Ł. Kimber, Director of the Lentz Villa, and Professor Krzysztof Kowalczyk, Director of the State Archive in Szczecin. The exhibition was introduced by its expert supervisor Paweł Gut and curators, Radosław Pawlik and Nina Jastrzemska, who also acted as guides for the assembled audience.
