Performers of the concert Juvenum Hortus – Voices of the Future

Nazarii Kachala

A graduate of the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz in the vocal class of dr hab. Adam Zdunikowski. He also graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Faculty of Instruments and Pedagogy in Białystok. He also perfected his vocal skills at the Mykoła Łysenko Academy of Music in Lviv, Ukraine, in the vocal class of professor W. Dudar.

He has participated many times in seminars and vocal courses, cooperating, among others, with Olga Pasiecznik, Stefan Piatnyczko, Andreas Sommerfeld and Jaroslaw Kaliski.

He is a winner of prizes and awards at national and international competitions, including I. Malaniuk in Ukraine, International Vocal Competition in Kyiv (2014) – 1st prize, 14th National Moniuszko Competition "Aria and Evening Song" (2017) – honourable mention, 1st B. Paprocki Polish National Competition. (2019) – honourable mention, 2nd B. Paprocki Polish National Competition – 2nd prize.

He conducts a lively concert activity in Poland and abroad, performing opera, operetta, oratorio-cantata and song repertoire. In the artistic season of 2018/2019, he made his debut at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz, playing the role of Rajca I in the comic opera Awantura w Recco, i.e. the tree of freedom by Maciej Malecki. In the 2019/2020 artistic season, he played the role of Yamadori in Giacomo Puccini's Madame Butterfly and the part of Stefan in Stanisław Moniuszko's The Haunted Manor.

Wojciech Urbanowski

A graduate of undergraduate studies at the Vocal and Pedagogical Faculty of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Branch in Białystok, singing class of prof. dr hab. Adam Zdunikowski.

Currently, he is a soloist in the Nova Opera Choir in Bydgoszcz.

He made his debut in 2019 as Semproń in the play "Lo speziale" by G. F. Handel, directed by Beata Redo-Dobber at the University of Music in Białystok. In 2020, he appeared at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz as Maciej in S. Moniuszko's "The Haunted Manor" directed by Natalia Babińska.

Winner of the award at the 14th Moniuszko Competition Evening Song in Białystok in 2016 and the special awards of the director of the Baltic Opera, Krakow Opera and Wrocław Opera in the form of participation in opera performance in the season 2021/2022 at the 2nd B. Paprocki Polish National Vocal Competition in Bydgoszcz.

He participated in master classes conducted by Olga Pasiecznik and Mariusz Kwiecień.

David Roy

He has many successes at international and national vocal competitions, incl. 2nd place at the 3rd International Sacred Vocal Competition "Ars et Gloria" in Katowice, 1st place at the 5th National Vocal Competition in Drezdenko, Grand Prix at the 14th National Moniuszko Competition "Aria and Evening Song" in Białystok, as well as 2nd prize at the 19th International Festival and the Ada Sari Vocal Art Competition in Nowy Sącz. He made his debut in the role of Figaro in Gioachino Rossini's "Barber of Seville" at the Nova Chamber Opera Stage as part of the 11th International Opera Youth Forum, and in February 2019, he made his debut at the Opera Nova in Bydgoszcz as Belcor in Gaetano Donizetti's "Love drink". A year later, he took part in Stanisław Moniuszko's "The Haunted Manor" as Miecznik – also on the stage of Opera Nova. Currently, he is studying at the Academy of Music. Feliks Nowowiejski in Bydgoszcz in the singing class of Adam Zdunikowski.

Yana Hudzovska-Kit

Born on October 20, 1993 (Ukraine). She graduated with a BA and MA studies with honours at the Academy of Art in Szczecin in the singing class of professor Katarzyna Dondalska.

She perfected her skills at vocal courses and workshops under the supervision of great singers and teachers: professor Urszula Kryger, maestro Ewa Podleś, and maestro Paul Esswood.

She is a laureate of competitions, i.e .: 1st place at the National Review of Russian Song in Szczecin (2017). This distinction is the special award of Halina Mickiewiczówna at the International Competition of Slavic Music in Katowice. (2018), Honorable Mention at the Vocal Competition in Drezdenko (2018), a distinction at the VIII Zdzislaw Skwara Polish National Vocal Competition in Mława Zdzislaw Skwara (2019), 2nd prize (1st not awarded) at the 5th Krystyna Jamroz National Vocal Competition (2019 Kielce), distinction and Halina Mickiewiczówna Special Prize at the Bella Voce International Vocal Competition in Busko-Zdrój (2019), 3rd prize at the Vocal Competition in Drezdenko (2019) a distinction and special prize for the best performance of a Polish work at the Jan Kiepura International Vocal Competition in Krynica-Zdrój, finalist of the Monika Swarowska-Walawska International Competition in Krzeszowice (July 2021) and 3rd place at the Carl Loewe (November 2021).

Her artistic achievements include many concerts on the stage of the Szczecin Philharmonic, Zielona Góra Philharmonic, Chamber Opera Hall at the Castle, and Olsztyn Philharmonic.

She made her debut at the Castle Opera in the form of Mi ("Land of the Smile") under Jerzy Wołosiuk.

She also gave concerts under the baton of Paul Esswood, Jerzy Kosek, Czesław Grabowski, Jacek Kraszewski, Piotr Borkowski and Sławomir Chrzanowski.

Michał Landowski

Pianist, chamber musician. He graduated with honours from the Academy of Arts in Szczecin in the piano class of professor Bogusław Rottermund. He is a laureate of many national and international piano competitions, including those in Austria (2nd prize at the International Music Forum in Vienna) and in Italy (1st prize and the Special Award of the Artistic Director of the 29th International Competition for Young Musicians "Citta` di Barletta, in Poland, Germany and Russia. In addition, Michał Landowski gave solo recitals and with orchestras at many national festivals, including the 18th Music Festival in Sandomierz, the "Master and Student" festival at the Wilanów Palace, and the Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk and three times at the Chopin Evenings on Okólnik Festival in Warsaw. He also performed at the 37th International Festival Chopin in the Colours of Autumn in Antonin and during the official celebrations of the National Independence Day, organised by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Cologne. He has also performed in Germany, the Czech Republic and Switzerland in recent years.

Michał Landowski combines artistic activity with pedagogical activity, employed at the Szczecin Academy of Arts in the Vocal Department and the Piano Department. He was a multiple scholarship holder of the Police Commune and the Rector of the Academy of Arts. In addition, he received an Artistic and Scientific Scholarships from the City of Szczecin. His interests include vocal chamber music. He has recorded four albums for the Acte Préalable label: Józef Wieniawski – Complete Vocal Works, Robert Schumann – Myrten, Op. 25, Raul Koczalski – Vocal works. The last and latest achievement of Michał Landowski is the recording of a song by Władysław Żeleński in cooperation and at the invitation of the world-famous singer – Katarzyna Dondalska.

Aleksandra Bałachowska-Jagusz

She graduated with a 2nd degree from the Social Music School in Szczecin, in the singing class of Mirosław Kosiński. She is a graduate of the I. J. Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań in the singing class of dr hab. Iwona Hossa.

On May 6, 2014, she made her debut at the Grand Theater in Poznań as Rosina in "The Barber of Seville", in a student performance under the musical direction of Przemysław Neumann. A day later, also for the first time, she sang the soprano part in Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" alongside Jerzy Mechliński under the direction of Warcisław Kunc.

In the years 2014-2016, she collaborated with the Grand Theater in Poznań, performing the part of Fire and Nightingale in the opera "Child and Witchcraft" by M. Ravel, directed by R. A. Braun, under the direction of Patrycja Pieczara and Grzegorz Wierus.

Since 2012, he has performed at the Summer Festival in Drezdenko and Krzyż "Summer Chamber Meetings" and at the Nadnotec Music Festival "Beautiful Singing".

She took part in the final concert of the "Wratislavia Cantans" Festival at the end of the "Oratorio and Cantata Music Interpretation Course" conducted by Przemysław Stanisławski.

On April 17, 2017, she sang the Christmas Noon Concert, consisting of arias by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Kurpiński, which took place in the Bogusław Hall at the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle in Szczecin, accompanied by Irina Palivoda.

Semi-finalist of the Gaetano Zinetti International Vocal Competition in Verona in 2017.

Finalist of the 4th International Sacred Singing Competition in Katowice in 2021 and winner of three additional prizes: awarding the name of Maestra Anna Kościelniak for the best performance of a sacred song, prof. dr hab. Andrzej Chorosiński -UMFC Warsaw and the Director of the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz – Maciej Puto.

On October 15, 2021, she made her debut at the Pomeranian Philharmonic in Bydgoszcz, performing the soprano part in W.A. Mozart under the baton of Paweł Kapuła.

On 11/12/2021, she made her debut as Adela in the play "Zemsta Nietoperza" at the Opera at the Castle in Szczecin.

She perfected her vocal skills at master classes conducted, among others, by by Ingrid Kremling – Domański, Olga Pasiecznik, Urszula Kryger, Izabela Kłosińska, Adam Kruszewski, Jarosław Bręk and Wojciech Maciejowski.
