Saxophone music took pride of place during events held at the Lentz Villa this weekend, on Friday 7th and Saturday 8th October.

Thursday at the Lentz Villa was dedicated to two Great Ladies of Polish Verse. The first of them, Wisława Szymborska, native of Cracow, was hailed as ‘the mistress of virtuosity, brevity, and subtle humour’. She was a poet, essayist, critic, translator, columnist, co-founder of Polish Writers' Association (SPP), member of the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (PAU), recipient of the Order of the White Eagle, and Nobel Prize Winner for literature (1996).

W sobotę 1 października 2022 r. sala kinowa Willi Lentza była miejscem premiery filmów dokumentalnych poświęconych twórczości dwóch znamienitych artystów: Jarosława Perszko („Od światła do kamienia”) oraz Andrzeja Fogtta („Portrety”).

The closing party (finissage) of our exhibition of Timm Stütz’s photographs, combined with a presentation of the ‘Antidote’ catalogue published by the Lentz Villa, was held on Friday 30th September.

Kto z Państwa ostatnio napisał list? Nie, nie mejl, nie wiadomość przesłaną messengerem, ale tradycyjny list na kartce papieru? Założę się, że dziewięć na dziesięć osób odpowie, iż w kilku ostatnich dekadach nie napisało listu. Od razu dopowiadam – ja też jestem w owej dziewiątce osób. Zatem należy mieć nadzieję, że liczba piszących listy znacznie się powiększy wraz z ogłoszonym przez Willę Lentza konkursem na list do Augusta Lentza.

Podczas piątkowego koncertu, organizowanego w Willi Lentza w ramach cyklu Juvenum Hortus, Pani Profesor Iwona Wiśniewska-Salamon przedstawiła młodych muzyków, którzy w niedalekiej przyszłości mogą być oklaskiwani na wielu estradach świata.

Another concert from the cycle SZYMANOWSKI AT THE LENTZ VILLA, marking Karol Szymanowski’s 140th birth and 85th death anniversary, was held last Sunday in our historical venue. Emanuel Salvador (violin) and Ronaldo Rolim (piano) played two excellent works by the author of Harnasie: Metopes Op. 29 and Myths Op. 30, as well as Sonata for violin and piano No. 4 by the Brazilian composer Camargo Guarnieri (1907-1993).

The third concert from the cycle #jazzatthevilla, filled with the extraordinary, warm sound of Tricity-based duo Common Tones (Filip Fiebiger – guitar, Tomasz Klepczyński – clarinet, bass clarinet), marked the onset of autumn at the Lentz Villa. The musicians played pieces from their first album as well as new material, including absolute premieres. Such magically intimate evenings of great music are what we truly cherish. The Friday concert at the Lentz Villa featured Roman Wróblewski Trio, whose abilities and masterful performance charmed the dedicated jazz audience. They played, among others, music from their latest album titled Sun.
